This one is for students who are now appearing for exams and will have little time to pick and choose their university/school/college of higher education. Little time-- 'cause you were engaged in scoring best in your exams, and point 2 - deadlines are close and you couldn't explore more, time is constrained.
In such a scenario, you need to talk more, ie talk to more study abroad consultants, explore your alternatives. Many a times we stick to known big-brands, you should talk to smaller but quality oriented consultants. Its like, sometimes (infact most of the times in my case), I get better flavours as per my taste buds at small kitchens, while big-brands have standardized menu to offer. I hope you will appreciate the simile. Big Old brands offer standardize preferences you must explore them, but also look forward to fresh perspectives, latest trends in international education.
Each school / country has something special to offer while also each student's need is different. Be expresive while asking what does the program offers, career expectations, internship or co-op oppportunities etc. How are the long term job prospects, if you may settle in the new country for long, or what are scenarios if you wish to return to your home country.
Also, check if there are public colleges in the country you wish to study. Many a times, public universities offer better infrastructure and research resources either being funded by local governing authorities or private inddustrial network. Public universities are economical too for international students.
At Scholars Global (www.scholarsglobal.in), we help students to prioritize universities over broad spectrum of pointers, including scholarships, tuition fee, post study work alternatives, research studies, loan options, location and local job opportunities, university ratio of international students etc. We create awareness of University ranking in international forum before we zero down on select few programs and universities. As a counsellor, we help streamline decision for students planning to study abroad ie. study in australia, study in uk, study is usa or even study in europe.
